How to setup the Wi-Fi and Security on your EnGenius Router.

 

Firstly connect your computer to your EnGenius rout

er by either connecting to the wireless signal it

offers (by default it is ‘EnGenius’ but may be set

to another if it has been changed in the past) or by

plugging in directly with an Ethernet cable to one

of the LAN ports on the back of the unit (see the

last page of this manual to see which ports are LAN

ports, etc).

Then open a web browser, e.g. Firefox, Internet Exp

lorer, Safari, etc

Login to

http://192.168.1.1

by typing it into the address bar of your browser

as below.

If this link does not work you may need to use

http://10.1.1.1

due to an older setup.

The router will then ask you for a username and pas

sword this is usually still set to default which is

‘admin’ for the username and ‘admin’ for the passwo

rd (you may need to type this in twice to login).

This will then log you into your router and you wil

l see this menu on the left....

Click on ‘Wireless’ and you will then see a new menu

open below it....

Continued on next page....Now click on ‘Basic Settings’ and then look at thepage that appears on the right....Notice where the text ‘EnGenius’ appears? (Or something else if you are changing the name again)....This is where you want to type the name of the wireless network you want! (Just like below).... Once you have changed the name click on the ‘ApplyChanges’ button and you will see.....Then after about 30-60 seconds the router will reboot and you can continue again. Now we need to change the security so click on ‘Security’ in the menu as below.... You will then see the following page load on the right.....Now you want to choose the encryption level to be ‘WPA2 Mixed’ as shown here...

Now add some ticks into the Cipher boxes TKIP and AESas below....This is where you type the password you want to protect your wireless.....As below the password you want needs to be typed into the Pre-Shared Key field. Once you have changed the name click on the ‘Apply Changes’ button and you will see.....Then after about 30-60 seconds the router will reboot and you will have successfully secured and renamed the wireless on your EnGenius router. Below is a picture to show in detail where the ports, etc are located on the back of the router.
